We buy as much local food and beer as possible and focus on remaining a local destination in a very tourist-driven part of town. Our restaurant features 2 bars off-seaon and a 3rd on our covered porch come spring with over 30 draft beer lines combined.

We always sell Matunuck Oysters as our house selection but do rotate in a featured oyster always from New England with many from RI, CT and MA. We love fresh local seafood and in a location like Newport it’s crazy to go too far for your seafood.

]]> Matunuck Oyster Bar is a Farm to Table and Pond to Plate restaurant open year round for lunch and dinner. Matunuck Oyster Bar is committed to uniting fresh, locally grown produce with farm-raised and wild-caught seafood to make the freshest dishes you’ll find anywhere.

The raw bar offers a variety of Rhode Island oysters, crisp cherrystones, littleneck clams, and jumbo shrimp. Matunuck Oysters are grown on Matunuck Oyster Farm in Potter Pond right off the restaurant’s outdoor patio, and organic vegetables are grown at the Matunuck Vegetable Farm on the north end of the pond where Captain John Potter had his vegetable garden in the 1700s. Diners enjoy indoor and outdoor waterside dining seven days a week and the one of a kind heated patio. For those interested in learning more about aquaculture Matunuck offers Oyster Farm tours.

]]> Perry Raso started digging littlenecks in Point Judith Pond when he was 12 years old. He grew up wild- harvesting shellfish, eel trapping, bull-raking clams and scuba diving for steamers. Before Perry Raso opened Matunuck Oyster Bar, he was an oyster farmer. He founded Matunuck Oyster Farm in 2002, on a seven acre commercial aquaculture lease, on Potter Pond in East Matunuck, Rhode Island.  This is where the shellfish nursery, grow-out and maintenance take place.
